Social Initiatives by MHIPL
MHIPL focus has been on sustainable initiatives that address environmental issues, contributing to business performance and its responsibility towards the society. MHIL has launched several initiatives, at all cement plant locations, to support various social development activities as a part of the company’s commitment toward sustainable development.
February – 2020 – Vepalodai
- To prevent global warming we have planted more number of Trees in and around the plant and provided steel tree Guards to the local schools.
Maha scholar – 2019 -2020
- Every year we have providing scholarship to the school children’s in the name of Maha Scholar award with cash.
June – 2019 Vepalodai
- We have provided visitors steel chairs to primary health centre.
August – 2019 – sekkamalpuram
- We have provided drinking water facility equipments near by schools.

Chennai flood CSR
Maha Cement’s CSR wing Helping Hands responded to the unpredicted calamity caused by Chennai Flood: Floods in Chennai affected the lives their very badly, making it the worst disaster of 2015. On Tuesday, December 1st 2015, the dry and stagnant Adayar river that runs under the secondary runway of the Chennai International Airport overflowed its banks and water spilled all over the tarmac and aprons. This was in addition to the torrential rain that submerged one of India’s biggest cities and left many thousands helpless. Essentials such as drinking water, food and medicines were in short supply.
Few of the initiatives MHIPL continues to take-up in the community are below
- Providing benches, tables, etc. are being provided for Govt. Schools
- Renovation of class rooms/ schools
- Renovation of Public Health centers Repair of village roads & financial aid for construction of village roads
- Renovation of places of worship and community interest
- Every year cash awards are given to the meritorious students of Govt. Schools in the nearby villages
- Supporting mid-day meal programmes
- Supporting for educational tours for school children
- Organizing Health Check-up camps for villagers & providing free of cost medicines
- Providing support to rural Sports and Games
- Providing safe drinking water RO facilities
- Supporting education trips to selected entrepreneurs
- Organizing veterinary camps & providing free of cost medicines
